Nigerians pay tribute to rapper Dagrin nine years after

Nigerians are paying glowing tributes to late rapper Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun popularly known as Dagrin, who passed away on this day April 22, 2019.

He died in an accident after his car collided with a stationary trailer (heavy-duty vehicle) in front of Alakara Police Station, off Agege Motor Road, in the Mushin area of Lagos.

He was pronounced dead at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, LUTH and was buried on Friday, April 30, 2010, at the Ebony Millennium Private Vault, Atan Cemetery.

Dagrin, born October 21, 1987, took the Nigerian music scene by storm with his unique rap in Pidgin English, Yoruba, and English, which was described as first of its kind in Nigeria.

His hit singles â€œPon Pon Ponâ€, and â€œKondoâ€ from his sophomore album, â€œChief Executive Omotaâ€ (C.E.O) released in 2009, were the rave of the moment from 2009 and 2010.

Dagrin had a short but impactful career.

Today marks the ninth year since he died and Nigerians have not forgotten him as they have taken to Twitter to pay tributes to him. He is presently trending at number one spot on Twitter in Nigeria.
