The Governor of Rivers State and the Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Chief Nyesom Wike, is expected to sign peace accord with governorship candidates of four other political parties.
The Chairman of Rivers Debate Group and the President of Rivers State Investors Forum, Mr. Ibifiri Bob-Manuel, disclosed this in Port Harcourt yesterday while announcing their preparedness to conduct the 2019 Rivers Governorship Debate in partnership with CoolWazobia FM, Silverbird TV, Enough is Enough Nigeria and others.
Bob-Manuel disclosed that the peace accord would be signed in the presence of European Union representatives and other International organisations and communities.
He noted that candidates of five political parties, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, African Democratic Party, ADP, Labour Party, LP, Accord Party, and Social Democratic Party, SDP would enter the accord after the debate on Tuesday.
Bob-Manuel added that the accord is as a result of the violence that marred the presidential and national assembly elections in the state, adding that the peace accord if respected would cushion violence in the governorship and state legislative polls.
